Course Description
The course explores principles and practices that are fundamental in becoming an effective manager, including basics and fundamentals of management theory, its application in a variety of organizational frameworks, the importance of leadership in both local and global settings. The course will involve an overview approach to covering the various concepts required for an overall understanding of management’s role in the contemporary organization. Course serves as the first introductory course laying foundations for many following courses during the study.
The aim of the course:
After taking this course, students are expected:
1. To be able to recognize and use basic terms in management theory;
2. To be able to understand and capture (apply) management concepts;
3. To be able to view business and organizational issues from a management perspective;
4. To improve skills to manage professional and personal lives as well (we all need to manage our lives: better plan and organize our activities, motivate and influence others as well as monitor environments to succeed in both our professional and personal lives).
In the end of the course students should be prepared for further study in the area of management, be able to identify and apply appropriate management techniques for managing contemporary organizations, and have an understanding of the skills, abilities, and tools needed to obtain a job on a management track in an organization of their choice. Having followed this course, the students should be better equipped to understand how the firm and/or organization and its managers can utilize knowledge of management theory.
